Europe’s digital transformation offers opportunity but also exposes inequalities. Many Europeans remain excluded from the digital economy because of limited access, guidance or confidence. MolenGeek International, funded under Erasmus+ KA220‑VET, set out to address this challenge by scaling and transferring the MolenGeek model — a proven ecosystem where anyone can learn tech, find work and build a career.

The mission was ambitious: share MolenGeek’s vocational training methods with European partners, empower trainers through peer learning, and publish open resources to allow replication in any city.

The consortium united these four organizations through Four Work Packages that structured the collaboration: management/quality, curricula transfer, peer learning, and dissemination. Over two years, they achieved remarkable results and the project’s most striking success is the opening of a first replicated hub in France, proving the model’s scalability.

Our Journey — Two Years of Shared Growth

Launch & Foundation

The Launch & Foundation phase ignited the MolenGeek International adventure — bringing together passionate partners from Belgium, Italy, and the Netherlands under the Erasmus+ KA220-VET framework.
This stage laid the groundwork for a truly collaborative European initiative: defining a shared vision, setting up an inclusive governance model, and creating the essential tools to make teamwork seamless — from the joint project plan and Activity Template to the first coordination spaces.
At its heart, this phase focused on translating the MolenGeek DNAinclusion, hands-on learning, and accessibility for all — into a structured European methodology ready to be replicated and scaled across borders.

Acceleration & Growth

The Acceleration & Growth phase became the beating heart of MolenGeek International — where ideas turned into action.
Together, partners co-created and documented seven complete training programs, produced the MolenGeek International Handbook, and hosted three hybrid Hackathons in Brussels, Amsterdam, and Padua. These events united more than 370 participants and sparked over 30 innovative digital projects.
Peer-to-peer learning sessions reinforced expertise across teams, ensuring that each hub adopted the same high standards of pedagogy, inclusion, and organization.
Through this phase, MolenGeek International evolved from a bold concept into a vibrant transnational ecosystem of inclusive digital innovation.

Consolidation & Celebration

The final chapter — Consolidation, Future & Celebration — turned success into sustainability.
The MolenGeek International Geek Summit in Brussels brought together over 400 participants to showcase the project’s achievements, breakthroughs, and community impact.
This phase anchored the project’s legacy through enduring platforms such as Molearning and SideGeek — ensuring that the tools, methods, and events developed will continue to grow, evolve, and inspire future Erasmus+ initiatives.
Far from being an ending, this stage marked the beginning of a long-term European movement for digital inclusion, creativity, and opportunity.

Extension to France — Roubaix Hub (2025)

First French Success

The first hub born directly from Erasmus+ collaboration, proving rapid and effective model transfer.

When MolenGeek International began, the goal was to build a model that could be replicated across Europe. In June 2025, this ambition materialised with the opening of MolenGeek Roubaix, the first French hub born directly from the Erasmus+ collaboration. Roubaix, known for its diversity and creativity, became fertile ground for inclusion.

Within six months, the local team established MolenGeek France, delivered short workshops (Generative AI, social media, marketing), launched long-program selections (Web Development, Cybersecurity, Data Analysis) and organised the first French hackathon, « Weekend Startup – Roubaix, » from 17 to 19 October 2025. The first cohort of participants, aged 18 to 45 , are already following adapted training programmes created in Brussels and refined locally.

Already, over 70 participants have jumped into our programs — trained, empowered, and ready to conquer the digital world. 92% Net Promoter Score : our youth don’t just love it — they recommend it wholeheartedly.

And the highlight? 3 prototypes born at the first hybrid hackathon in Brussels are still thriving: incubated, refined, and evolving into real startups that change lives.

The MolenGeek International hub? It’s already inspiring other European cities to join this network of inclusive tech ecosystems. Erasmus+ was just the start — inclusive innovation is spreading like wildfire.

Toolbox / Resources & Outputs

The MolenGeek International Toolbox brings together the complete set of resources, templates, and insights produced over two years of European collaboration.
At its heart stands the MolenGeek International Handbook — a 120-page reference guide detailing the project’s strategy, governance model, pedagogical framework, mentorship approach, impact measurement system, and long-term sustainability plan.

The Toolbox includes seven complete training curricula, developed and tested by partners across Belgium, the Netherlands, and ItalyWeb Development, AWS Cloud Foundations, Cybersecurity, Salesforce Administration, Digital Marketing, Pathways, and Blockchain.

Each program is modular and ready for adoption or adaptation, with defined learning outcomes, evaluation rubrics, and recommended durations to ensure consistent quality and transferability across hubs.Complementary guidelines address active learning, mentoring, inclusion, and job readiness, while peer-learning reports showcase staff exchanges and best practices shared among Amsterdam, Padova, and Brussels.

All slides, visuals, and templates remain open-source, inviting educators, policymakers, and innovation hubs to reuse and expand the MolenGeek International model within their own ecosystems.

These events provided safe, creative spaces where learners, mentors and employers could co-create solutions and build networks. Locally, dozens of workshops and bootcamps ran continuously to expand access to tech learning in each partner city.

Impact & Results

The legacy of MolenGeek International is both measurable and personal.
Over 750 participants were trained across Belgium, the Netherlands, and Italy, with seven programmes implemented, three hackathons, and one international summit successfully delivered — resulting in a 79% positive outcome rate.

Behind these numbers stand diverse stories of transformation:
a newcomer who pivoted from a military background to a career in cybersecurity;
a finance graduate who combined technical training with an internship to relaunch her career in Belgium;
a young entrepreneur who turned a creative project into a sustainable business through mentoring and partner support;
and a professional who reignited her passion for marketing after years in another field — and many more stories that continue to unfold across the network.

These examples reflect the positive outcomes and lasting impact achieved across the consortium — demonstrating how inclusive training, mentoring, and employer engagement can open doors to new careers and empower communities.
